DETAILS

Use of data from high-quality assessments (ones that are valid, reliable, and usable) allows for progress monitoring and informed decision-making within and across a school system or Charter Management Organizations. When schools and CMOs have a well-designed system of aligned assessments, student testing time is limited, and the opportunities personalized learning for each student can happen, since the data that comes from such a system allows for informed decisions about the written and taught curriculum. Typically, a balanced and aligned system includes formative, diagnostic, interim/benchmark, and summative tools, each of which serves different but mutually reinforcing functions.

During a three-hour interactive session, attendees will explore the purposes of assessment, learn how to create quality assessment experiences for students through Evidence Centered Design, and deepen their understanding of how to make effective instructional decisions through active review of their specific school or district data.
