Since the program’s inception in 2004, 97% of all successful charter petitioners worked with FOCUS to prepare their applications. The School Design Workshop series is now scheduled for summer 2013. Through these workshops, Founding Groups learn how to design their public charter schools according to the terms set forth by the DC Public Charter School Board’s (PCSB) Application Guidelines.
Each group will receive a copy of FOCUS's “Guide to Starting a Public Charter School in the District of Columbia," and can bring 3 members to each of the following workshops:
- June 17, 9am-4pm - Standards, Curriculum, Assessment, Literacy
- July 8, 4-7pm - Target Population and Facilities
- July 17, 4-7pm - Business and Operations
- July 23, 4-7pm - Special Populations: SpEd and ELL
- August 1, 2-5 pm - Developing Your Board
