Please visit www.dccharters.org to learn about our new organization and to see the latest news and information related to DC charter schools.
The FOCUS DC website is online to see historic information, but is not actively updated.
Part 1, the Leadership Training Online Module, runs from August 6 - 31. This module will prepare participants to serve as their team lead for Part 2, which will be offered in the fall to teams of teachers. Part 1 comprises 4 sessions over 4 weeks; 2-3 hours online each week.
Participants will:
- engage in data analysis discussions that guide effective instructional decision-making (guided by Team Lead).
- use a metacognitive log assignment as a pre- and post-assessment to identify student needs related to explicit reading comprehension strategies.
- adapt and analyze a reading comprehension rubric aligned to Common Core Standards.
- complete a data inquiry cycle and incorporate re-teaching techniques to improve literacy and student access to content knowledge.
A stipend of $350 will be provided to one Team Lead at each school for organizing and supporting colleagues to complete the Team Institute online module and data use cycle activities. This may include facilitating face-to-face meetings, facilitating data analysis meetings, and coaching individual teachers. A stipend of $200 for up to six teachers per school will be provided for participants who complete Part 2.
